Purpose:
Sanford Health is providing scholarship opportunities to its employees seeking higher education in clinical research. The competitive scholarship application is open to Sanford Health employees.
Award recipients must demonstrate exceptional character and leadership in furthering their own progress and in enriching the lives of others, especially in service, academics, and community involvement and impact.
Eligibility:
Applicants must meet all of the following requirements:
Employed with Sanford for a minimum of 1 year
No documented performance improvement or corrective action plan within the last 12 months
Full-time and part-time employees, working a minimum of 24 hours per pay period
Employees who are PRN status, on an educational leave of absence or are current loan forgiveness recipients are not eligible.
Employees receiving a scholarship are expected to remain employed at Sanford Health as a full-time or part-time employee for at least one year upon completion of the course/certification otherwise repayment may be required.
Applicants must also:
Pursue the Clinical Research Coordinator Certificate (12 credits) course at the University of South Dakota
Maintain GPA of 3.0 or higher; if the recipient does not maintain the GPA re-payment may be required and no additional issuance of funds will occur
Complete the entire certificate program otherwise repayment may be required
*Full-time or as determined by your institution and program of study.

One page essay to demonstrate community service, scholarship, humble leadership, and/or impact.
Three character references submitted by form (one referee must be in a current management position)
300-word bio
200 word response to application questions
Selection Process:
The selection committee is designated by the Sanford Health Clinical Research Department.
Applications will be reviewed and scholarship recipients will be selected in accordance with the written criteria established.
All qualified applicants will be considered.
All application criteria, questions and appropriate paperwork must be completed to be considered. Specific examples of activities and achievements are especially helpful to the selection committee.
Finalists will be notified via e-mail. Winners will have 14 days to accept and register for the course. We ask that you do not contact officials asking if you were chosen as a finalist.
Award: Each scholarship awarded will be a total of $3,000 over the time of the certificate completion.
Award Distribution: Payment will be sent to employee via direct deposit. Please make sure to have your direct deposit set up in OneSource (Workday) prior to the end of the desired semester or before payment is to be sent. Click here for instructions if you need to set this up.
- Scholarships will begin distribution upon course registration if all conditions are met by the applicant.
- Applicants will be responsible for any additional fees above this distribution amount.
- The approximate cost of the program is $4,200.
- Distribution cycle:
- $750 upon course registration for HSC 111 Introduction to Research
- $750 upon registration for HSC 450 Patient Safety & Quality Improvement
- $750 upon of registration for HSC 498 Undergraduate Research Part I
- $750 upon registration for HSC 498 Undergraduate Research Part II.
- Students must be in good standing to continue receiving the scholarship award.
- Students must continue to attend classes and maintain at least a 3.0 grade-point average
- Transcripts will be required to be provided after each course’s completion
Renewal Process: This scholarship is not renewable.
