Purpose: To provide financial assistance for radiography students during their training at Sanford Health Bismarck.
Eligibility: This scholarship is available to junior and senior students enrolled in the Sanford Health Radiography program in Bismarck.
Award Distribution: Scholarship awards are paid directly to you, the employee or student, to ensure a smooth transition of funds please follow the below steps:
- Employees - Please make sure to have your direct deposit set up in One Source (Workday) prior to the end of the desired semester or before payment is to be sent. For step by step instructions on how to set this up refer to the Manage Payment Elections for Expense Reimbursements located on the One Source Expenses article.
- Students - please watch for a W-9 form to be emailed to you to complete via DocuSign. Once completed, your payment will be mailed directly to the address provided on the W-9 form.
Below are the two scholarships available:
1. JEFF JOHNSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR RADIOGRAPHY STUDENTS AT SANFORD HEALTH BISMARCK
Jeff Johnson started the Radiography Program in 1990. At the time, he was looking to change his career. Therefore, he very enthusiastically entered the field of Radiology, bringing his strong work ethic into his education, and into his work. Jeff passed away suddenly in 2021. A scholarship was created in his memory.
Award: One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior student annually.

2. ROSS KUNZ MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FOR RADIOGRAPHY STUDENTS AT SANFORD HEALTH BISMARCK
Ross Kunz started the Radiography Program in 1992. He was older than the average student at the time, looking for a new career in life. He had a strong desire to enter the field of Radiology and was willing to do whatever it took to succeed. Ross truly had a desire for the field of Radiology and health care, and a passion for teaching students. Ross left us too soon, as he passed away following a short illness, in 2006. A scholarship was created in his memory.
Award: Four $1,000 scholarships will be awarded annually (2 scholarship to a junior student, 2 scholarship to a senior student)
